# App Integrations

> Let your published Hercules app read and write data in services like Linear, Salesforce, and Slack. Connected per app. Currently in early access.

App Integrations let your published app connect to services like Linear, Salesforce, and Slack. Your app reads and writes data in those services after you publish it, so you can build integrations into the product you ship. Each connection belongs to one app.

<Note>**Early access.** App Integrations are available to users with the feature enabled.</Note>

### How are App Integrations different from Chat Integrations?

Both connect the same kinds of services. The difference is who uses the connection.

| Feature | Who uses it | Example | Status |
| - | - | - | - |
| **App Integrations** (this page) | Your published app, after you publish it | "Post to Slack when a new order comes in" | Early access |
| [Chat Integrations](/docs/ai/chat-connectors) | Hercules, while you chat and build | "Read my Notion spec and build the app" | Available |
| [Hercules MCP](/docs/hercules-mcp) | Other AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude...) | "Use Hercules from inside ChatGPT" | Available |

<Warning>
  Connecting a service in Chat Integrations does not give your app access to it. If you connected
  Slack in Chat Integrations and want your app to post to Slack, connect Slack here too.
</Warning>

### How do I set up App Integrations?

Tell Hercules what you want your app to do, for example "create a Linear issue for every new work order". Hercules finds the integration and asks you to connect it in the chat.

To connect one yourself, open your app, then click **Build** → **App Integrations**. Choose a service and sign in or paste its key. Pick which [environments](/docs/apps/environments) (production, preview, development) the connection covers. Your app gets the credentials it needs when it runs.

### Additional FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Can my users manage connections inside my published app?">
    Not through App Integrations. You create, reconnect, and remove these connections in Hercules.
    Your users do not get a connection management flow inside your app.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I connect multiple accounts for the same service?">
    Yes. Each connection has an ID. Your backend must include this ID on each call through the
    Hercules SDK (a code library for your app).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does each customer get separate access to connected services?">
    Hercules controls access by app and [environment](/docs/apps/environments), not by your app's
    customers. Calls use the connected account's permissions. Your [backend](/docs/apps/backend) must check
    each user's company and role before using a connection or returning data.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How can I let customers connect their own accounts?">
    Build a separate integration with the provider's API (a way for apps to exchange data). Your
    backend must manage each customer's connections, credentials, and permissions. This is separate
    from App Integrations.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I use Chat Integrations and App Integrations together?">
    Yes. Chat Integrations let Hercules use a service while you build. App Integrations let your
    published app use it. They are separate connections, so connect the service in both places if you
    need both.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Who can use App Integrations?">
    App Integrations are currently in early access. If **Build** → **App Integrations** is not visible
    in your app, the feature is not enabled for your account.
  </Accordion>
