# Migrate from Claude Code to Hercules

> Migrate from Claude Code to Hercules. Zip the project folder, drag it into Hercules, and ask for a migration plan. Use Expert, then Balanced to migrate.

To migrate from Claude Code to Hercules, zip the project, drag it into Hercules, and ask Hercules for a migration plan. The project is already on your computer or in a GitHub repo.

### How do I migrate from Claude Code?

**1. Export as a ZIP**

Zip the project folder on your computer, or download the GitHub repo and zip that folder. Leave out `node_modules` and build folders (`dist`, `.next`, and similar).

**2. Drag it into Hercules**

Drag the ZIP into the Hercules chat. A chat attachment can be up to 5 MB on the Free plan and 30 MB on Pro and Business. If the ZIP is larger, remove files you do not need, such as `node_modules` and build folders, and zip it again. Remove `.env` files and anything else that holds passwords or API keys.

**3. Ask for a migration plan**

Ask Hercules for a migration plan:

```text Ask for a migration plan wrap theme={}
Look at the attached project and write a migration plan. Keep the existing pages, components, and styling as close to the original as possible.
```

### Which model should I use?

Use [Expert](/docs/ai/how-it-works.md) for the migration plan. After you review the plan, switch to Balanced and ask Hercules to carry out the migration. Switch models with the model selector in the chat input. Expert and Balanced are available on Pro, Business, and Ultra plans. On the Free plan, use Lite.

### What does not carry over?

Database data, user accounts, API keys, and custom domains do not move automatically. Ask Hercules to set the app up on its built-in [database](/docs/apps/database.md) and [auth](/docs/apps/users-auth/get-started.md). Add API keys again in [secrets](/docs/apps/secrets.md). You can [connect a domain](/docs/apps/publish/connect-existing-domain.md) you already own.

See [Migrate to Hercules](/docs/apps/migrate/overview) for the same steps from other tools.
